Kévin Laumond – ALGSO coach in Geesseknäppchen
No pressure, no judgment. Just movement, support, and plenty of laughter.
A Multicultural Space That Feels Like Home
This class reflects the spirit of Luxembourg City: multilingual, diverse and welcoming. Ages range from 30 to 80+, and members come from all walks of life — bankers, teachers, parents, newcomers, long-timers. Whatever your background or story, you belong here.
Multi-culti! That’s how I describe this group. It’s like a little world in one room.

Class Structure
Each coach brings their own style and approach. Here’s how Petz structures her sessions:

Coaches rotate weekly, so participants benefit from different perspectives while still enjoying continuity and care.
I use towels for balance work because everyone has one at home. That way, they can keep doing the exercises safely on their own.
Petz Heinen – ALGSO coach in Geesseknäppchen
I stay with newcomers during most of their first session to guide them, explain the machines and correct posture.
Kévin Laumond – ALGSO coach in Geesseknäppchen
At the end of the 1hr session on the machines, I like to pass by everyone and give them individual exercises based on their needs of the day.
Cloé Lotteri – ALGSO coach in Geesseknäppchen
Participants also receive personal tracking sheets to note their progress — from the weight lifted to the exercises completed — so they can see how far they’ve come over the last 8-10 sessions.
Adaptability
Whether you’re feeling energised or tired, the class adapts to you:
Participants are free to do whatever suits them best. If you feel like a little more “me-time” that day, skip the group warm-up and head straight to the machines to do your own thing.
If you feel like you need connection, empathy, understanding and to talk, then go for it!
In this “Fitness and Strength Training at Geesseknäppchen” class, our coaches are there for you, whether it’s motivating you when you lack the energy, listening to how your week went while providing gentle corrections, or giving you the space to take that cross-trainer to town.
Versatility and adaptability are the two main themes of this class!
Some just want to move a little, others want to talk or feel the group’s energy. Everyone is welcome.
Petz Heinen – ALGSO coach in Geesseknäppchen
Whether you’re dealing with long-term fatigue, joint issues, or simply having an off day, the coaches are here to help you move safely and confidently.
I don’t ask what cancer people had or where they are in their treatment. I wait for them to come to me if they feel like talking. Meanwhile, I observe their movement, their face, their fatigue and I adapt.
Kévin Laumond – ALGSO coach in Geesseknäppchen
Everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace, and the community atmosphere is what makes it extra special. There’s always music playing, lots of laughing, and a sense of solidarity that lifts everyone up.
I’m a total chatterbox. I love talking, teasing, joking around. Of course, I always adapt to each person: some come for the banter, others for the calm. I go with the flow.

The Social Side
This class is about connection as much as it is about fitness:
What I love about this class?
Petz Heinen – ALGSO coach in Geesseknäppchen
We are in the city and we really feel it. We have people from the Netherlands, England, Norway, Spain, Romania…everywhere!
The social benefits of our ALGSO classes are the unsung heroes of complementary cancer therapies and post-cancer recovery. The support and energy you receive from our members is unlike anything you’ve experienced before.
They are all there for a reason. They have gone through, or are going through something very similar and know the importance of not being alone if you don’t want to be.
Talk to any of our ALGSO members and you will always hear the same themes coming back:
“ALGSO is my second family.”
“ALGSO is the family I chose for myself.”
“I have made lifelong friends here at ALGSO.”
There is a reason and inexplicable magic behind all of that and it manifests itself in our events and ALGSO classes, where members come together in community and vibrate with energy, love and understanding (and a side of goofiness!).
Thursdays Are for the Gents: A Dedicated Men’s Session
At ALGSO, we know that cancer affects everyone, but not always in the same way. Over the years, we’ve heard from oncologists, doctors, and most importantly, our members themselves, that some men are looking for something a little different in their recovery journey.
That’s why we’ve introduced a men-only fitness and strength training session, held every Thursday evening at the Campus Geesseknäppchen in Merl.
This isn’t about dividing or excluding, far from it.
It’s about creating the right space for the right support.
It’s a direct response to a growing call for targeted sport and movement options for men affected by cancer, and an opportunity to focus on the kinds of exercises, rhythms and goals that feel most meaningful and motivating to them.
Whether it’s strength training, endurance, or simply moving again in a supportive space that understands your experience, this session is designed for you.
So if you’re a man living with or beyond cancer, and looking for a class that’s tailored to your pace, your goals, and your comfort zone, come try it out. We’re always listening, and always adapting to what our community needs.
