💪 Introduction

Why our ALGSO Zumba in Limpertsberg Class is Perfect for Cancer Warriors:

What is it?

An energising Zumba class in a supportive, fun and non-judgmental environment. With her deep empathy and infectious enthusiasm, Caroline turns your Monday night into a mini dance party full of rhythm, joy, and laughter. Expect to move, sweat, and reconnect with your body.

Zumba combines easy-to-follow choreography with music from around the world: salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton, belly dance, flamenco, tango and more. It’s cardio, yes, but it’s also about expression, music, and celebration. Everyone dances to their own rhythm, and Caroline is there to guide, adapt and encourage every single participant.

Let’s Dance: Why ALGSO Zumba is More Than Just a Workout

Say goodbye to the idea that Zumba is only for fit, flashy dancers in neon gear. Our ALGSO Zumba class is a fun, welcoming, and empowering space for anyone touched by cancer, whether you’re in recovery, remission, or simply looking to move your body with joy.

Let’s be honest, Mondays will never win the “Best Day of the Week” award. It’s the first day of the week after a usually too-short weekend that simply flew by. It’s back to work, back to alarm clocks, and back to that colleague with the nervous sniffle.
You know it.
We know it.
And Garfield knows it.

But what our beloved cartoon cat doesn’t have (and you just might), is this fabulous opportunity to make Mondays your favourite day of the week!

Hop over to Limpertsberg, where Caroline leads a dynamic, dance-fuelled session full of music, smiles and sweat (the good kind).
No dance experience needed. If you can march on the spot and crack a smile, you’re already halfway there.

What makes this class special?

This isn’t your average gym class. It’s a safe space where everyone is free to move in their own way, at their own rhythm.

There is no pressure to get the steps right. There is no judgment.
Some participants go full-out. Others take it easy and enjoy the groove.
It’s about listening to your body and doing what feels good in a space where everyone belongs.

Caroline brings all the sunshine: think high energy, a big smile, and a playlist that spans continents. The class includes:

Warm-ups and cool-downs

Energetic dance sessions

Easy adaptations if you’re tired or recovering

Plenty of humour, joy and encouragement

For Caroline, a kind, welcoming and safe environment is an absolute must in each class. It’s the baseline upon which everyone can have fun and be free to let go without judgement.

This class isn’t about “giving a performance” or proving anything. It’s about listening to your body, embracing your pace of the day and having fun.

What to Expect in This Limpertsberg Class

Class Structure

Each 60-minute session includes:

1 or 2 choreographies (about 5-7 mins) to gently warm-up

A cardio session of 40–45 minutes of energetic dancing

1 choreography to stretch and wind down

Expect lively rhythms, a few cheeky jokes from Caroline, and a warm, supportive group ready to cheer you on.
Still unsure? Let us break it down for you:

Step 1: Brain off, body on!

We start by inviting you to leave the day at the door. Caroline’s motto?

This class is your moment to just move and feel good, with zero pressure to perform.

Step 2: Warm up

The warm-up consists of mainly aerobic-type, simple movements, with a smattering of dance elements woven in. Something to gently warm-up each muscle in your body and get you shedding that “just-in-case” layer of clothing!
(Expect smiling to be part of the warm-up too… it’s unavoidable.)

Step 3: Choreo Time

Now, the party starts.
Think “Around the World in 80 days”, except, you’re in leggings and shaking your hips like you’re 70’s disco-royalty!
Through a seamless blend of choreographies, you will travel across the globe visiting different styles of music and dance.

The basic rhythms are: Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Reggaeton and Cumbia, but why stop there? We don’t want to give away too many spoilers, but expect variety including Flamenco, Tango (great for balance-work) and Belly-Dancing.

It’s infectious, addictive and a serious cardio workout! Caroline invites you to listen to your body and take breaks when you need to, but to always keep some movement going (walking on the spot, respiration exercises, etc.). After all, it’s a cardio-workout, not a pool-side break!

Step 4: Hydration and Groove

This is a cardio class, so expect to sweat (and laugh). Caroline builds in natural pauses (and water breaks!) between tracks, often sipping while the next beat drops. She’ll encourage you to drink, move gently when you pause, and most importantly: keep the joy flowing.

Step 5: Cool-down and Stretch

At the end of the class, we bring the tempo down and guide the body into recovery. Expect a feel-good stretching sequence to soothing music that leaves you refreshed and floating out of the room.

The Social Side

What makes ALGSO classes unique?
The people.

Sure, the music is great, the moves are energising, and the endorphins are real.
But ask anyone who’s stuck around after class, and they’ll tell you: it’s the people that make this class special.

From the moment you walk into the gym, there’s a buzz of friendly chatter, warm smiles, and that familiar “how was your week?” energy.
Caroline sets the tone with her infectious positivity, and before you know it, you’re laughing with someone you’ve only just met, or catching up with a familiar face from last week.

Our ALGSO Zumba class isn’t just a workout; it’s a weekly ritual of connection. People stay to chat after class, swap playlists, recommend cafés, or plan their next ALGSO activity together.
Some bring their friends or partners along to join the fun, and newcomers are always greeted with genuine warmth (and maybe a little dance-off challenge, no pressure).

Caroline also takes special care to remember everyone’s names and stories (but never pressures you into sharing), because to her, you’re not just a participant, you’re part of the ALGSO family.
And when you move together to a beat that lifts you up, something wonderful happens: you leave with your heart full and your water bottle empty.

Adaptability

Don’t worry if you’re not feeling 100%.
One of the things that makes our Zumba class truly stand out is how incredibly adaptable it is.

Whether you’re mid-treatment, post-treatment, just starting out, or coming back after a break, this class welcomes you, exactly as you are, exactly where you are.
Every move can be modified. No judgement, just gentle encouragement.

Caroline ensures that this is a space where your energy levels, your limitations, and your needs are respected without question. Every session is crafted to include the whole group, with movements that can easily be adapted.

Feeling low on energy? Do smaller steps, lower intensity, skip every other beat, or just enjoy the rhythm from the sidelines.

Want something more challenging? Make bigger movements, use more strength in each step, do the full choreography.

Our highly sensitive, and incredibly empathic coach keeps a close eye on how everyone is doing, discreetly and gently, and adapts on the fly if needed. If something doesn’t feel right for you on a particular day, you can simply skip that move or do your own version. In Caroline’s class, there’s no such thing as doing it wrong.

This class is proof that fitness doesn’t have to be fast, hard, or punishing to be effective. It can be joyful, fluid, full of heart, and most importantly, it can fit you, not the other way around.

So don’t worry if you’ve got a case of the Monday blues, or if, on the contrary, you have some steam to let off. This Zumba class will meet you there. No pressure. No expectations. Just music, movement, and an open invitation to come as you are.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if I feel too tired to participate?

Come anyway! You’re always free to take it easy.
Movements are always adaptable. You don’t need any dance experience. You’ll catch on in your own time, and Caroline is there to support you every step of the way.
“Of course, if you cannot physically leave your home, then don’t. But if you can do the groceries, then you can come to the class! Come, even if it’s just to enjoy the energy and atmosphere, it will do you so much good.” Caroline Soteras-Scuflaire – ALGSO coach in Limpertsberg

Are the classes safe for my condition?

Yes! All the exercises can be adapted and the coach takes good care of you.
If you are worried or unsure, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at the ALGSO, and we can provide all the information you need, or give you the contact details of our coach so you can have a little chat. 😉

Do I need prior experience to attend this class?

Absolutely not.
No one walks in as a Zumba expert, and that’s the whole point! You don’t need rhythm, coordination, or a history of dance classes. Just bring yourself and a willingness to move (or sway!) to the music.

“Please, don’t panic if you feel overwhelmed in the first class. That’s completely normal. Be kind to yourself. You’re here to move and to have fun, and progress will come naturally over time.” Caroline Soteras-Scuflaire – ALGSO coach in Limpertsberg

Everyone picks things up at their own pace. The more regularly you come, the more familiar the moves will feel. But whether it takes two weeks or two months, you’re in the right place.
Just show up. Your feet (and the music) will take care of the rest.

What language is the class given in?

The number one language in this class is… body language!
(Yes, we’re also hearing Ursula from “The Little Mermaid”)

Caroline uses a visual guidance method called cueing: a Zumba technique where she uses hand gestures to show what’s coming next. It’s simple, intuitive, and, best of all, universal. Most people pick it up within the first couple of classes.

That said, Caroline is also a full-blown language enthusiast and brings that polyglot energy into the room. She speaks French, English and Spanish fluently.
She’s also studied Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Slovene, Bulgarian and even Dutch (though she cheerfully admits she’s a bit rusty on that one these days).

Is there an indoors and outdoors option?

Yes, in summer (when the weather is good) some classes can take place in a park nearby to help escape the heat of the gym room.

What do I need to bring?

– A light, sporty outfit (it gets warm fast!)
– Indoor trainers
– Water
– A towel
– (Optional) Something around the waist to help feel the movement: like a scarf or hip band, especially for belly dance songs
