An Interview with Cloé Lotteri

Cloé Lotteri doesn’t just teach exercise. She brings heart, humour, and a fierce sense of purpose to every single class she leads.

With a Master’s degree in adapted physical activity, Cloé graduated top of her class from a renowned sports university, specialising in disability, ageing, and long-term illness. Her decision to focus on supporting people affected by cancer stems from a deeply personal place:

Tell us a bit about your background:

I’m a qualified teacher in adapted physical activity.
I have a Master’s degree in sport sciences, where I graduated top of my class, and I specialised in working with people affected by disability, age-related conditions, or illness.
Cancer care is the area I chose to focus on personally and professionally. I made a promise to my grandmother, who passed away from cancer before I could help her with my skills. That promise became my mission: to support others like her, and to be the coach I wish I could have been for her.

Today, that promise lives on in every movement she teaches.

During the day, she works as assistant director of a crèche in Luxembourg, promoting movement and joy in little ones. But come evening? It’s ALGSO time, and her dedication to our community is boundless.

Because of that promise to my grandmother. It became my way of continuing her fight. She passed away too soon, so I made it my mission to help others who are going through what she did. That’s why I joined ALGSO. It’s my way of giving back.

What do you love most about your work with ALGSO?

The transformation. Seeing someone rediscover confidence, joy, strength… it’s everything.
I once had a participant who suffered with shoulder arthritis for months. After six weeks, the pain was gone. Another participant, 75 years old, found herself playing badminton again after decades. It’s so empowering to watch people do things they never thought they could do again.

What touches me most is the bond we create. Some participants come to class even when they can’t exercise, just to see the group and be part of it. That says everything.

For Cloé, movement isn’t just about muscles or cardio.
It’s about identity, confidence, connection.

She guides participants through personalised strengthening exercises, focusing on what they want to work on: upper body, lower body, endurance, balance, or simply feeling more at home in their own body again.

How do you tailor your classes to accommodate everyone’s specific situation?

I always check in: How was your week? How are you feeling today? And I adapt from there. Mental and emotional wellbeing is just as important as physical health. I want everyone to feel like they belong, that they’re valued, and that they’re capable, because they are!

I also try to be very inclusive with my choice of words. I never say “Everyone, raise your left arm”, but instead, I will say: “Those who can, raise your left arm”. Like that, everyone feels respected, valued and seen.

Cloé is especially attentive to everyone’s individual state and her passion for inclusivity makes everyone feel seen, welcome and at ease.

If someone has a specific condition, I will spend a little more time with them to work on comfortable alternatives that still work the muscles in the same way as for the others, but that are manageable and inclusive. That way, they don’t feel discouraged or left out.
It’s really important to me that everyone feels valued and capable. I want everyone to feel empowered thanks to the strength that comes from within them.
I don’t want them to have a low self-esteem because of a difference. Instead, I want to boost their self-confidence and show them that they are just as capable as everyone else.

What kind of environment do you create in your sessions?

I’m a massive chatterbox! I love to talk, tease, and joke around, but always in tune with people’s personalities. If someone wants peace and focus, I respect that. If they want to talk, I’m there for it. It’s all about flow, trust, and connection.

Do you use music during your sessions?

Always! Even though I personally listen to French rap, Latino music is my go-to! The tempo is perfect for movement and energy. Sometimes I switch to 80s music depending on the group. For the stretching section, I put on some relaxing piano music, or something soothing.

Is there a fun fact most people don’t know about you?

I look super high-maintenance: fake nails, lashes, everything… But I’m a total troubadour!
I travel with only a backpack, sleep on floors, eat with my hands, and love to connect with locals. I love Asia, especially Indonesia.
Contrary to France and Luxembourg, the lifestyle is so different there. It’s the simplicity with which they live and their kindness that gets me. I love their approach to life and human values, and the humility of spirit and people.
