💪 Introduction
Why our ALGSO Aquagym at Rehazenter Kirchberg Class is Perfect for Cancer Warriors:
What Makes This Class Special
Think gentle movement can’t be powerful? Think again.
Aquagym at ALGSO is fun, social, and above all, adaptable. Whether you’re easing back into exercise or looking to strengthen your body gently, this water-based class offers just the right balance of cardio, strength, and stretch.
Led by our dedicated ALGSO coaches, the class starts with an optional 30 minutes of free pool time. Come early to swim or move at your own rhythm — or just relax in the water until the structured session begins.
Some people arrive at 5:30pm and swim, others come at 5:55pm for the workout. Everyone is welcome in their own way.

During the guided session, everything happens to music and with a smile. From warm-ups to abs to stretching, the class moves together while each participant goes at their own pace.
We never pressure. If they can’t follow, it’s not a problem. I remind them: you do you!

What to Expect in this Rehazenter Class
The Class Structure and Physical Aspect
While each coach has their own style, a typical session will look like this:
All movements are done with your feet on the ground — no swimming required. It’s about comfort and accessibility.
Exercises are designed to minimise joint impact while maintaining high cardiovascular and muscular engagement.
In other words, this class helps you to get a great full-body workout with next to no joint stress and maximum results.
Water lifts your body, so your joints are protected. It’s less aggressive on the articulations, but the cardio challenge is still very real.

Go With the Flow
Our coaches understand that everyone has their own rhythm and that not every session will be attended with the same energy.
It’s not about being perfectly in tempo to Kévin’s “Top Hits” playlist, or having a struggle-free session.
What matters most is that:
Our aquagym class is the perfect place for you to release tension and feel lighter (literally and emotionally).
If you feel like you can’t do a full session, then join for the parts that you want to do, and float, swim or sit on the bench for the rest!
Listen to your body and manage the pace yourself. Go easy with the exercises and go at the pace you feel you can do that day.

The Social Aspect
Share laughs, music, and movement with like-minded people.
We’ve already mention Kévin’s “Top Hits” playlist, right?! Well, if radio-pop is not your thing, fear not, he is always open to requests!
I had an English member request The Beatles once — so we did a whole session to their music. It was great!

You will be surrounded by other ALGSO members, all of whom have gone or are going through something similar.
Need to talk about it with someone who’s not your doctor or family? That’s what our ALGSO family is for.
Need to distract yourself with chatter, music and a fun atmosphere? That’s what our ALGSO family is for.
Need to find yourself in a safe environment to be able to take back control with empowering physical activity? That’s what our ALGSO family is for.
In this class you will:
They like to tease me at the end of class, watching the clock and complaining about being worn out — but there is always a glint in their eyes, and they always come back the next week!

📍 The Location
Where it Happens and What to Expect:
Address:
Rehazenter Kirchberg
1 rue André Vésale
2674 Luxembourg
Luxembourg
Thanks to it’s prime location, it is easily accessible via public transport. There is also an underground parking available.
Changing rooms are communal but separated by gender.
The Pool(s)
As mentioned previously, there are two pools. One main one for the class, and a smaller basin for stretching at the end.
The Main Pool
This pool is the one where the 30 minutes of free swimming (or floating) take place, as well as the main section of the class.
The coach will stand on dry land, by the edge of the pool, to demonstrate the exercises, visible to all.
I always do the class with them, but outside the water so they can see me. That means that I don’t have the resistance of the water, so sometimes they tell me “Hey Kévin, we can’t follow you, you’re too fast!”. I’m there to motivate them and laugh with them, but also let them go at their pace.

The Smaller Basin
This is where the last section of the class takes place. Once the workout, cardio, giggles and splashing is done, everyone migrates to the pool right next to the main one for a relaxing session of stretching.
Perfect for stretching out those muscles and relaxing after an empowering workout session!
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What do I do if I feel too tired to participate?
Come to the session, do what feels good, and take breaks whenever you need. Even if you come just to float and stretch: just being here helps, the warmth of the water, the music, the group energy – it lifts you up!
“Of course, there are different types of fatigue, so listen to your body and be careful. But if it’s a lack of motivation, then still come, you will feel so much better for it.” Kévin Laumond – ALGSO coach in Kirchberg
Are the classes safe for my condition?
Yes! The water softens every movement, and therefore any impact received. It is a much gentler alternative to doing workouts out of the water.
If you are worried or unsure, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at the ALGSO, and we can provide all the information you need, or give you the contact details of our coach so you can have a little chat. 😉
Do I need prior experience to attend this class?
Not at all.
Thanks to the low water levels and extremely safe infrastructure, you don’t even need to know how to swim!
“Just come with your good mood and energy.” Kévin Laumond – ALGSO coach in Kirchberg
Do I need to put my head underwater?
No, there are no exercises that require putting your head underwater. The water-level being about chest-level ensures that there is no risk of involuntary submerging.
The most that will happen is that (given that the class takes place in a pool) there might be some slight movement-provoked splashing, so your ears and face might get a little wet!
What language is the class given in?
It depends on who is giving the class, but our coaches combined speak French, English, Luxembourgish and a hint of Spanish.
What do I need to bring?
– Swimming cap: mandatory
– Swimsuit: bikinis allowed, trunks not permitted
– Towel: optional, towels are freely available on-site
– Flip-flops: optional, though helpful for moving between pools and to and from the changing rooms
Lockers are available on-site and must be used for storage of backpacks.
In order to become an ALGSO member, you will need a medical certificate from your doctor, certifying that you are able to do sports. Read more here.
