💪 Introduction

Why our ALGSO Yoga in Walferdange (and Online!) Class is Perfect for Cancer Warriors:

Yoga with ALGSO is a gentle, welcoming class designed for people affected by cancer. Whether you’re in treatment, in recovery, or years into remission and ready to challenge yourself again, you are welcome here.

Coach Olga Kalinina brings a grounded, empowering approach that blends movement, breath, mindfulness, and deep relaxation. Her focus isn’t only on what the body can do, but on how you reconnect with it, especially after everything it has carried you through.

This is also a space where you’re not just “exercising”.
You’re learning tools you can take with you into daily life. Olga teaches breathing practices (Pranayama) to help calm the mind, ease the mental noise, and support you through fears, frustrations, and self-judgement.
The result is a class that can feel both soothing and surprisingly energising: calm, yes. But not “sleepy”. More like hitting reset and getting your battery back.

And if you’re worried you’ll be the only beginner in the room? Olga has you.
She’s used to teaching mixed levels in the same class, and she actively makes newcomers feel safe and supported.
With small groups, she can give real attention, so you’re not lost in the crowd, and you’re never expected to figure things out alone.

In short: this isn’t about perfect poses. It’s about progress, confidence, and wellbeing: one breath at a time, in a community that understands what “strong” really means.

What this class is (and what it isn’t)

This isn’t about perfection, performance, or bending into shapes that belong in a circus. There’s no pressure to “keep up”, no need to do a crash-course in Sanskrit, and no unwritten rule that you must be flexible to belong in the room.

This class is about a safe, adaptable practice that meets you where you are.
In your body, in your energy levels, and in your current chapter.

And that matters, because in an ALGSO group, people arrive with very different realities.
Some members will have been in remission for years and are looking to actively challenge themselves, while others might be currently undergoing therapy and want a softer, gentler session.

Olga’s strength is exactly that: versatility without judgement. The class is designed to accommodate your needs, with movements being adaptable.
You can go stronger on a good day, or or keep it soft and supportive when your energy is limited, all while still enjoying the flow of the session and still “doing yoga”.

So what is it?

A calm, structured session that blends movement and inner reset, where the goal isn’t to impress anyone, but to reconnect with yourself.

Olga’s approach stays gentle and supportive:

That “gentle” isn’t a downgrade. It’s intentional. It means you’re guided to rebuild strength and confidence steadily, without rushing your body, and without ignoring what it’s telling you.

And what it isn’t

It isn’t a high-intensity workout disguised as yoga. It isn’t a silent room where you’re expected to know all the poses. It isn’t a one-size-fits-all flow. Olga checks in, adapts, and keeps the atmosphere human.

It’s also not just physical. Olga weaves in self-acceptance and compassion as part of the practice:

And at the heart of it, that’s something many of us need to hear (and then hear again).

In other words: you don’t come here to “fix” yourself. You come here to support yourself, through breath, awareness, movement, and a calm space that’s built for real life, not social media highlight reels.

What to Expect in This Walferdange / Online Class

Olga’s Class Ritual

Olga uses a consistent structure so your body and mind know what’s coming.

Step 1: Arrive in the present

At the beginning of the class, Olga asks participants to bring attention to their body.
This enables a clear reset:

Step 2: Warm-up

A gentle warm-up focusing on feet, hands, legs, hips and easy mobility, with some light stretching here and there to prepare for the next step:

Step 3: Asana (poses)

Movement adapted to the group, with options for beginners and advanced participants. This part is divided into two: first standing, then on the ground.

Step 4: Savasana (relaxation)

This is not an afterthought.
It’s a core part of the session.

And its energising and regenerative qualities will leave you in a state of calm productivity.

Adaptability

Adaptation is built in from the start:
A firm believer in the power of communication, Olga greets every new member with a friendly and approachable smile, making sure to ask them about their “status”. A quick check-in to know how to best tailor movements and guide them through the session.

Small groups help:
With classes usually consisting of around 5 to 6 participants, Olga can give everyone her full attention, adapting at each moment to everyone’s needs.

If you feel tired, you can still come and choose your pace:

Online via Zoom: simple, structured, supportive

Whereas the Friday classes take place in Walferdange, the Wednesday evening and Sunday morning classes take place online through Zoom.

And online yoga works very well with Olga’s structure:
Her class is built to avoid constant camera changes, so you will only need to adjust the angle once, between the standing and sitting sections of the Asana.

If you’re camera-shy, that’s ok too!
Some participants prefer to have their camera off for a more passive approach and Olga trusts that they are doing their best.

While she cannot physically place you (in the positions) through the camera, she can see you (if your camera is on) and give detailed advice when needed.

As always, there are pros and cons, so it’s up to you to choose which you prefer:

On-site:

Physical adjustments possible

Luminous room in Walferdange to fully relax and de-connect

No need for internet connection

Online:

No travel necessary

Comfort of your own home

Camera can be turned off for shy and discreet members

…Or both!

Benefits: body, mind, and something bigger

Olga explains that “yoga” means union in Sanskrit
It’s the union of the body, the mind and the soul.

Gentle strengthening, muscle toning, and balance

Gradual return to movement without rushing or forcing

Mental

Tools to calm the mind through breathwork (Pranayama)
