💪 Introduction
If you’re looking for an ALGSO class that feels both powerful and deeply human, Ettelbruck is where you’ll find it.
This is a place where people arrive tired, hopeful, curious or uncertain, and leave feeling more grounded, more capable, and more themselves.
It’s where serious strength work meets serious kindness: the sweet spot that helps people in or after cancer treatment feel better in their bodies and their daily lives.
From the moment you step into the hall, there’s a sense of purpose mixed with warmth. It’s not a boot-camp, not a competitive fitness class, not a place where people “show off”. It’s a medically informed training session shaped around real bodies, real fatigue, real recovery…
And a very real sense of community.
What I love about this class is that, the people are very motivated, and at the same time, the atmosphere is… well, it’s as if it embraces you.
Jérôme Camerlynck – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
This class is about building back confidence, strength and capacity, one Wednesday at a time, in a safe and welcoming environment, and with coaches who push you safely, progressively and with caring support.
For me, success is when people are laughing and having a good time. Showing up is already a win

Why our ALGSO Fitness and Muscle Strengthening in Ettelbruck Class is Perfect for Cancer Warriors:
Collective Strength
What makes this class special isn’t just the training. It’s the people.
Even though everyone arrives with different stories, energy levels and health backgrounds, something happens when they move together.
Support becomes contagious.
Encouragement becomes instinctive.
And inspiration comes from unexpected places.
Jérôme shared one of the group’s most inspiring success stories:
We have this participant who, I think, is the eldest in the group. But she’s so fit… she’s our idol! And that’s so great because then, as a coach, we don’t have to try to be idols. The inspiration is right there in the class!
Jérôme Camerlynck – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
This is the essence of collective strength:
Together, participants create a momentum that none of them could generate alone. And this applies to brand new participants, just like to long‑time members, you’re welcomed into that collective upward pull from the moment you enter the hall.
Adaptability
One of the most important values of this class is the recognition that every body is different, and every day is different too.
Fatigue, treatment side‑effects, emotional load, sleep, work, pain levels… Anything can influence how someone feels. And that’s okay. Nothing here is rigid.
As Jérôme explains:
We don’t judge when a person doesn’t want to come. They are all free to come just as they are free not to.
Jérôme Camerlynck – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
Exercises are offered with variations. Movement options are provided. Rest is encouraged when needed. And progress is measured not by comparison but by what feels possible for each person on that specific day.
I ask every session: Is everything okay today? What do we need to avoid? What’s not working for you? And I switch exercises quickly if I see they’re not into it. It’s not about forcing, it’s about feeling good.
Sarah Even – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
That’s why someone can go harder one week, take it slower the next, or switch their exercise option mid‑session, all without explanation or apology.
And when people commit to showing up regularly?
You’re going to feel a difference within three to six weeks… it actually goes very quickly.
Jérôme Camerlynck – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
This class meets you where you are, and helps you move forward gently, sustainably, and safely.
A Safe Environment
Safety is at the heart of every ALGSO activity, and Ettelbruck is no exception. With physiotherapists leading the class, every element is built on clinical knowledge, experience and careful observation.
Exercises are adapted on the spot, and concerns are never ignored.
What we want to offer is a medically safe environment.
Jérôme Camerlynck – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
And throughout the session, the coaches watch closely:
Last time I had someone who had a drop in the blood pressure, so I sent her to see a cardiologist… You won’t find that in a regular fitness centre.
Jérôme Camerlynck – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
It’s this combination of medically informed coaching, personalised adaptations, and an atmosphere free from judgment, that makes participants feel truly protected.
As Jérôme puts it plainly:
I don’t know of a safer place to be and to do sports.

The Sports Aspect
This class offers a structured, human-centred hour with well‑paced, purposeful physical work. It includes:
Walking patterns, mobility, gentle balance challenges.
Personalised assessment is subtly woven in. You might not notice, but the coaches do.
The warm‑up tells me everything I need about someone’s coordination, balance, and daily-life risks.
Jérôme Camerlynck – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
With Jérôme:
Think intervals, circuit stations, one-minute sets, and controlled burn. Intense enough to feel it, but never reckless.
With Sarah:
Think circle strengthening, balance games, one-leg ball passing, mat-based strength, and the occasional harmless vendetta with a flying ball.
Be careful… some will try to aim at you! All in good fun.
Sarah Even – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
Expect various forms of movement, ranging from squats to lunges, featuring ball work, resistance exercises, coordination tasks and even low-impact cardio.
Exercises may be in a circle, in stations, or done together for maximum group connection.
Participants can expect to feel engaged but not overwhelmed.
As Jérôme says:
You can really feel that you’re doing something… it’s just the right intensity. And that’s important to me. This balance.
Jérôme Camerlynck – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
Gentler strengthening, stretching, slower pace.
A welcome transition toward calm.
Breathing, mobility, slow rhythmic work, sometimes even gentle dance‑based movements.
Over time, regular attendance leads to meaningful improvements in strength, balance, stamina and daily function.
The Social Aspect
Strength isn’t only muscle.
Beyond the physical training, this Ettelbruck class has an atmosphere that many participants describe as uplifting, warm and energising.
For Jérôme personally, it’s one of the highlights of his week:
I have really long working days, but I’m always looking forward to coming to this class, no matter how tired I am because the group, the people… well they really energise me.
Jérôme Camerlynck – ALGSO coach in Ettelbruck
People chat, laugh, support each other and celebrate progress, big or small.
And yes: the music definitely shapes the atmosphere too.
This isn’t just exercise: it’s connection, comfort and community.
We complain about the weather, we gossip, we laugh… it’s normal life, and that’s what makes it good.
