If we had to sum up Relais pour la Vie 2026 in one word, it would be this: together.
But if we’re being honest? Also: emotional, chaotic, sleep-deprived, unexpectedly joyful… and powered by an impressive amount of coffee.
This year’s edition brought together thousands of people at the Coque for 24 hours of solidarity, strength, and just the right amount of Zumba-induced chaos.
From the very first applause to the final emotional moments, we were reminded of something powerful: that when people come together, truly come together, something magical happens.
And of course, Team ALGSO was right at the heart of it. 💙

What Is Relais pour la Vie and Why It Matters
If it’s your first time hearing about it, Relais pour la Vie 2026 Luxembourg isn’t just a relay.
Organised by the Fondation Cancer, it’s 24 hours of people showing up, physically, emotionally, and wholeheartedly, to remind each other that no one has to go through cancer alone.
At its core, it’s built on a simple but powerful idea:
Someone is always there.
Walking. Supporting. Holding space.
And that changes everything.
It’s about:
But more than anything?
It’s that rare kind of event where strangers become teammates, where small gestures mean a lot and where you realise: oh, this is what real support looks like.

In short: it’s Luxembourg’s humanity… but louder, warmer, and walking in circles for a really good reason.
So what does all of that actually look like in real life?
Let’s take you inside Team ALGSO’s Relais pour la Vie 2026 Recap.
Team ALGSO at Relais pour la Vie 2026: Small Team, Big Presence
This year, Team ALGSO had around 24 members walking and running on site: one single team, but honestly, the energy brought by those present slayed.
Behind the scenes, it took a bit of coordination to make sure ALGSO could be physically present, and we are deeply grateful that it was possible.
Because, let’s just say it: if there’s one place ALGSO should be, it’s here.
For many people affected by cancer in Luxembourg, ALGSO isn’t just another team, it’s their team.
Beyond the Coque, the spirit extended even further:
So whether on the track or out in nature, the message was the same: we move together, we heal together.
The Moments That Made Relais pour la Vie 2026
Relais pour la Vie is never short on emotion, but it’s also full of spontaneous, human, joy-filled moments.
A Surprise That Brought More Togetherness
One highlight? A wonderfully unexpected one.
An empty slot near the ALGSO seating area was spotted, and, in true relay spirit following a bit of investigating, it was quickly embraced.
Somewhere between Baker Street brilliance and pure main-character energy, Isabelle just went full Sherlock and secured the extra spot.

In other words: two ALGSO members could now walk together at the same time, instead of one.
Very quickly, a message flew into the group chat (the real command centre of any event), and suddenly: boom! More shared laps, more connection, more fun.
As Isabelle beautifully put it:
The Relais is not just about participating on the track, but about being part of a group.
Isabelle – ALGSO member & team legend
And she’s so right. This isn’t a solo sport. This is team energy in its purest form.
Dance, Laughter & ALGSO Spirit
Other unforgettable blink-and-you-missed-it moments you had to be there for:
Unexpected Costumes & Main Character Energy
Some things weren’t planned… and that made them even better.
Sadly, this year there were no official costume slots, and some participants clearly didn’t get the memo… in the best way possible.
From creative outfits to fully committed looks, there were a few main characters walking among us, adding that extra spark of fun and personality to the track.
Honestly? It made it even better. Because Relais pour la Vie has always been about showing up as you are… or as your slightly more chaotic, costume-loving alter ego.
(And let’s be real: spotting them mid-lap was a highlight in itself 👀)
The Opening & Survivor Tour: A Wave of Emotion
From the start, you could feel it: anticipation, emotion, community.
It was one of those moments where your throat tightens a bit and you forget about your phone’s existence…
Words That Set the Tone
The opening speeches set a deeply human tone:

The Applause That Never Stopped
Then came the Survivor & Caregiver Tour and the arena transformed.
The applause? Non-stop.
Not a polite clap. Not a momentary gesture.
A continuous wave of sound.
No phones out. No distractions. Just people showing up for each other.
Hands didn’t stop clapping. People didn’t sit down. Every step taken on that track was met with recognition, gratitude, and love.

Life on the Track: Energy, Team Spirit & Midnight Madness
Once the relay officially kicked off, the track came alive and stayed that way for a full 24 hours.
Passing the Baton, Sharing the Moment
Teams rotated through the night, ensuring that the relay never stopped (because the fight never does).
And, honestly? The vibes were immaculate.
Highlights included:

Strangers, Friends & Instant Belonging
For Team ALGSO, one thing stood out above all:
Every transition between walkers was a moment of connection.
Even between people who had just met.
That’s the magic.
Because if there’s one unwritten rule of Relais pour la Vie, it’s this:
You will end up talking to someone you didn’t know 10 minutes ago.
You start the relay thinking it’s about walking.
You leave realising it’s about who walks beside you.
More Than a Relay: Activities for Everyone
Relais pour la Vie 2026 went far beyond the track:
And this year, there was a strong focus on awareness around tobacco and alcohol, an important reminder that prevention is just as much a part of the journey as support. It felt real, relevant, and honestly… necessary.
It was a reminder that support looks different for everyone, and that every form of support matters.
The Night Shift: Tired… but Together
As night fell, the atmosphere shifted and things got… interesting.
Midnight to 4AM: The Rhythm Changes
There were fewer people in the stands, so less overall energy, but those who stayed brought their own warmth and madness (and occasional micro‑naps 😄).
It’s that strange in-between time where:
At some point, everyone had that moment of: “Okay… how is it only 2:17am?”
Coffee & Conversations
The real heroes?
There’s something uniquely powerful about walking at 3am surrounded by people who understand why they’re there. No big speeches needed, just presence.
The Candle Ceremony: A Moment to Pause
The candle ceremony remains one of the most symbolic moments of Relais pour la Vie.
It’s people standing a little closer. Speaking a little softer. Thinking a little deeper

One Word That Said It All: “Together”
Thousands of candles illuminated the arena, each one representing a life, a memory, a message of hope.
Names, stories, love… all united for this moment.
As the lights dimmed, a single word appeared in glowing candles:
TOGETHER
And, honestly? Never has a word felt more accurate.
Reflection, Sound & Shared Emotion
Accompanied by a gentle vibraphone composition called “tranquility”, the moment invited reflection. Even in a large space where activity continues in the background, the moment still created a collective pause.
The intention was clear: a shared pause, a collective breath.
The kind of silence that isn’t really silence, but feels shared.
A moment to remember.
A moment to feel.
Moments of Light: The Candle Ceremony in Pictures
Not every moment needs words.
Some are better seen, felt, and quietly understood.
Each candle carried a name, a story, a memory; small lights coming together to create something much bigger.
Take a moment with these.
The Spirit of the ALGSO: Moving Together, Healing Together
Perhaps the most defining moment of Relais pour la Vie 2026 wasn’t a single event, but a pattern.
Because for us, movement isn’t just about fitness. It’s about connection, healing, and feeling supported every step of the way.
It’s so much more than just another group.
It’s the kind of place where you can show up as you are: tired, strong, uncertain, hopeful, and still feel like you belong
If there’s one thing that defines ALGSO, it’s this:
You don’t need an invitation to belong.
There are no awkward introductions. No “where do I fit in?”
You’re just… in. 💙
One first-time participant summed it up without even needing words: she arrived alone, and within minutes, she belonged.
Because that’s ALGSO.
No matter who you are, no matter your story, you’re welcome.

And judging by the smiles (and slightly tired eyes), we’d say: mission accomplished.
If this spoke to you, it might be your time to join us.
At ALGSO, no one walks alone; on the track or in life. 💙
The Kind of Support You Don’t Forget
And a quick (but very deserved) shout-out to two ALGSO icons of the weekend.
Caroline, our Zumba queen, didn’t just bring the energy; she was the energy. Running for a full hour and turning every spare moment into a dance break (including a spontaneous bachata in the bleachers… obviously), she reminded us that movement is meant to be enjoyed.

And Gena (already mentioned, but well worth a second nod) brought the kind of quiet-but-powerful energy that holds a team together. From staying the full 24 hours to cheering on every single person and sneaking in a few dance moves of her own, she truly showed what showing up for others looks like (with a side of iconic humour).
Honestly? This is what Team ALGSO energy looks like. 💙
Voices That Stay With You
Some words linger long after the event ends.
And if you ever needed proof that Relais pour la Vie is about people first, here it is:
Cancer changed my life… and I can say it is much more beautiful now. I’m living life to the fullest.
Doris – ALGSO member
We always come as a group, together, in solidarity.
Frank – ALGSO member
During the survivor tour, that’s when the ALGSO really stands out. Because we are all survivors. We truly are a team.
Isabelle – ALGSO member
And a line from Luxembourg’s current Minister of Health captured it perfectly:
People will forget what you said, but never how you made them feel.
Martine Deprez – ALGSO member
Relais pour la Vie is exactly that.
A feeling.
Relais pour la Vie 2026 in Numbers
While the emotion is what stays with us, the impact is just as important:
Every euro, every lap, every moment contributed to something bigger than any one of us.

Take a step back and relive 2025 with us.
Until Next Year…
As we packed up, stretched one last time, and said our goodbyes, one thing was clear:
Relais pour la Vie 2026 wasn’t just an event.
It was an experience.
It was a feeling.
It was a community.
It was a reminder that even in the hardest moments, you’re never doing this alone.
So yes, we’ll remember the steps, the laughs, the candles.
But most of all?
We’ll remember how it felt.
To everyone who walked, cheered, hugged, volunteered, donated, or simply showed up: thank you.
You made hope visible. You made solidarity real.
You showed us that community is powerful, movement heals and together, we go further.
And honestly… that’s the part that stays. 💙
And if you’ve never experienced it?
Maybe next year is your year. ✨
